MINCO PRODUCTS FOR USE IN SPACE
From Earth orbit to interstellar space, Minco products have supported generations of exploration. Our flexible heaters, temperature sensors and flex circuits help protect critical systems across a wide range of space missions.
That heritage includes Voyager. A Minco heater launched aboard the spacecraft in 1977 remains operational nearly five decades later—a remarkable example of lasting performance in the demanding environment of space.
Today, that experience helps Minco support the next generation of spacecraft and the engineers who build them.
SPACE APPLICATION
USING A MINCO HEATER ON A NASA MISSION
CUSTOMER AND MINCO ACTIONS:
The company contacts its project parts engineer or prime contractor to confirm the specification, screening, documentation and approval route.
NASA / PROJECT AUTHORITY
NASA or the designated project authority establishes or approves the applicable requirements.
CUSTOMER AND MINCO ACTIONS
The company supplies temperature, power, dimensions, mounting, lead and environmental requirements. Minco recommends a configuration.
NASA / PROJECT AUTHORITY
Project engineers provide mission requirements as needed.
Customer & Minco actions
Minco confirms the applicable S-311-P-839, S-311-P-840 or S-311-P-841 approval, current status and supporting Group B evidence for the proposed configuration.
NASA / project authority
Existing qualification evidence becomes part of the project’s review package.
Customer & Minco actions
The company submits the drawing, qualification evidence, screening plan and application details through its designated approval route.
NASA / project authority
The project parts engineer or Parts Control Board, where required, reviews suitability and identifies additional testing or deviations.
Customer & Minco actions
Minco completes required additional qualification work. The company addresses mission-specific gaps.
NASA / project authority
If a change affects Minco’s NASA qualification, Minco coordinates necessary qualification approval with NASA GSFC. Mission-specific acceptance follows the project’s approval route.
Customer & Minco actions
Minco performs required Group A screening and supplies agreed conformance, test and traceability records.
NASA / project authority
The project reviews delivered evidence according to its requirements. NASA does not necessarily test each heater itself.
Customer & Minco actions
The company completes required assembly or system testing and submits the results.
NASA / project authority
The designated mission authority accepts the hardware for flight.
