From bearing metal and machine housings to coolants and oil, turbomachinery presents a wide range of temperature measurement needs. Minco offers , compact embedment sensors, probes and hazardous-area assemblies to help equipment manufacturers and operators address those needs across turbines, compressors and pumps.
Minco provides sensor choices for different measurement points throughout your equipment. Our engineers can help match the sensor construction, installation and applicable certifications to your application.
Compact embedment sensors for fluid film bearing monitoring
Minco’s miniature embedment sensors fit in or beneath the babbitt layer of bearing shoes, placing the measurement close to the bearing metal. This arrangement can provide early warning of oil film breakdown and supports temperature monitoring where installation space is limited
Probes for roller bearings and process temperatures
Minco’s probe selection includes RTDs and thermocouples in configurations for drilled holes, direct immersion and thermowells. Tip-sensitive probes use copper alloy tips to promote heat transfer, and spring-loaded holders maintain contact with the measured surface. Thermowell options provide protection where pressure and fluid flow are part of the application.
For hotter measurement locations, Minco offers high-temperature RTD probes for steam lines, exhaust gases and other demanding environments, with select models rated to 600°C (1112°F). These are model-specific capabilities; hazardous-area suitability must be confirmed for the selected configuration.
Hazardous-area certifications for your destination markets
Minco’s AS9 hazardous-area probe assemblies offer global IECEx certification, European ATEX certification and North American CSA certification. The hazardous-area embedment sensor line is likewise tri-certified with additional certification to KCs for Korea, PESO for India and CCC for China. This coverage supports equipment intended for different installation markets.
Temperature capabilities across the Minco range
The following ranges summarize available product options. Final limits depend on the model, materials, accessories and certification requirements.
| Minco sensor option | Published temperature range* |
| Standard tip-sensitive probes | −50°C to 260°C (−58°F to 500°F) |
| Standard embedment RTDs | −50°C to 260°C (−58°F to 500°F) |
| Hazardous-area embedment sensors | −60°C to 200°C (−76°F to 392°F); option limits apply |
| High-temperature RTD probes | −100°C to 550°C (−148°F to 1022°F) |
| Select high-temperature RTD probes | −200°C to 600°C (−328°F to 1112°F) |
*For hazardous-area embedment sensors, FEP-jacket cable options reduce the published maximum to 180°C (356°F), elastomer-filled cable options to 125°C (257°F), and feedthrough options to a range of −20°C to 149°C (−4°F to 300°F). These limits help determine which configuration fits the complete installation.
Sensor configurations that fit your application
Temperature capability is one part of the solution. Case dimensions, insertion depth, mounting arrangement, element type, wiring and cable protection also affect how a sensor fits your equipment. Minco can help you review these details, including the temperatures each component—leads, fittings, feedthroughs, and connection heads—will encounter.
