Minco is supplying an integrated heater/sensor/flex circuit package to an international Military weaponry and instruments manufacturer.

The company manufactures Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Displays (AMLCD), of which one model is smaller than one inch across. Minco supplies the integrated components to warm the perimeter of the two sizes of displays.

The larger heater warms the display on a helicopter pilot's helmet which is wired to an infrared camera.

The smaller displays are mounted on helmets and are standard equipment for the next generation of pilot and soldier. This model has outside heater dimensions of only 0.5” x 0.35". The display is wired to a small camera at the end of the soldier's rifle which allows them to see around corners.

Features of the integrated heater/sensor/flex circuit include:

• Fine line widths (0.0055” on the large heater, 0.0077” on the small heater)
• Heater pattern fits in a narrow space (only 0.045” space available on the larger heater)
• Integrated thermistor temperature sensor
• Flex leads
• Terminations for a ZIF style connector that the customer attaches
• PSA backing on the heater only
