    Maintain the temperature of an LCD Display

    I need to maintain the temperature of an LCD Display at -20°C. The initial temperature is -40°C.
    Dimensions of LCD are
    Width=55.8mm
    Height=14.73mm
    Thikness=2mmm

    What my options are for a heater?
    Thanks

    Re: Maintain the temperature of an LCD Display

    I would recommend a custom Thermal-Clear Heater.  Typical power requirement for maintaining temp in an LCD warming application is 1 Watt/ in^2.  This type of heater is optically clear with very fine wire (~.001") windings and can be mounted behind the LCD (further reduces visibility of wires) or on the front of it.

    This type of heater can be ordered with a "high TCR" element wire and be controlled with an inexpensive CT198 controller instrument.

    Cool [H] Re: Maintain the temperature of an LCD Display

    You can frequently find a suitable heater for testing using the Minco heater configurator online. In this case the model 6700 series seems to be a close fit.

    http://www.minco.com/heater_config/htsearch.aspx?shape=rectangle&insulation=STC&wire=stock&MinX=.50&MinY=2.0&MaxX=.58&MaxY=2.2

    You will need to look at the available resistances and power options you have available for test, including use of the sensorless controllers, to find something near the correct power density. If you can vary the DC voltage to the controller, it will help you tweak for best performance before deciding to obtain a custom model.

    When the online configurator fails to provide any options that are suitable, try emailing the "Ask the Expert" to see if Minco can come up with something closer.
