    Very small smoke machine

    Hey everyone,
ive got a little project and ive run into a brick wall with the problem i have at the moment. Simply put, im trying to make a really small fog machine. From what i understand, the commercial ones heat up a heating block and use the contained heat to vapourise the fog fluid that is later sprayed in. Since the machine im using will be mounted in a model car, i need to make it as small as possible. that would require a matierial that is capable of holding a very large amount of thermal energy. The problem i face is what matierial should i use. Also, im not sure if i want to use electric heaters or gas powered ones. the idea im developing at the moment is a coil of copper tubing that is wrapped with nichrome and then insulated.

I was even thinking of making my own fog fluid that vapourises at a significantly lower temperature. any imputs would be appreciated.

HI dharvin,I am looking for the same type of smoke machine. You got my attention when you said it was for a model car.I can only think it is for the same thing.I went to a local hobby shop and bought a smoke device out of a 1/12 scale remote army tank that they had in the back room.It runs of of 7.4 volt batt.pack and will do a pretty good job. But I dont like the noise it makes, and I would like to produce more smoke. If you go to ebay and punch in Wizard Stick you will get a close design (but still to large) for what we need.I bought one just to have it for my project it smokes pretty good but you have to keep pumping it.This is an on going project of mine that I have been working on for some time.If you would like please keep in touch, and we can compare notes and ideas.

                                                                                                                         Thank you,Matt
