    Conical solder joints

I know this is probably way below most of you all, but I am trying to resolder some switchcraft xlr connectors into an already wired patchbay.  Problem is, the solder posts are not what I am use to, they are a spring-like joint called conical.  I can't seem to get the old solder out of the posts to add my new wire.  Any ideas?
